Description
Photograph of William Lacy standing on orange crates from Hawaii on a ship, ca.1930. Lacey stands slightly to the right in a fine suit, dark tie and a lightly-colored hat with hundreds of crates of oranges forming the floor beneath him. A ribbon hangs from his lapel and he appears to hold a cigar in his right hand. Ropes of the ship stripe the crates with their shadows and a thick pipe stands in the hull on the right. A metal staircase leads to an upper level of the ship in the background where sailors in lightly-colored uniforms and hats work with machinery.
