Description
Contains moving images from three different excursions. The first segment is from the Bieber Side Line Tour, September 1955. It includes shots of the Westwood depot and Fruit Growers Supply buildings. The train, consisting of Western Pacific's heavyweight car fleet, pulls into Keddie for some shots of the depot and yard. The train then departs down the canyon and arrives at Oroville, where a Southern Pacific GS class steam engine replaces the diesels. The second segment of the film contains limited footage of a joint dinner excursion from Oakland to Carbona, February 1956. It includes a ferry ride across the bay and shots of Southern Pacific's Oakland Pier, as well as exterior shots of a set of ALCO PAs and a steam switcher. The third and final segment includes limited footage of a Western Pacific steam excursion from Oakland to Oroville, March 18, 1956. It includes footage of a stop at Fremont and a run by the California Zephyr at Midway in Altamont Pass.
