Description
The site for the future Carnegie Library Building was purchased on December 30,1899. The half block on the north side of E Street between Eighth and Ninth was purchased for $17,000. Private citizens contributed $8,000 towards the purchase, with businessman George Marston leading the contributions with a $1,000 donation. Title supplied by cataloger.
