Description
Annotation translation: "The lower reaches of the East River are very short of wood and all building timber needed by the towns or villages has to be brought by raft from the upper reaches of the river. Chinese forestry is in a bad way. People plant only enough trees to cover their own needs. The Chinese keep an eye on the immediate profit only, and act on the motto 'après moi le deluge'."
