Description
"Itenya 1935. Heidentaufe. Mutter und Kind." ("Itenya in 1935. Baptizing the heathen. Mother and child."). A woman carrying a baby on her back is kneeling. The missionary is pouring water over her head. The missionary's assistant is standing beside them. In the background women standing in a line and watching the scene .
Cf. photo nos. 10534 (the year given, 1936, is probably wrong), 10535 and 10536. -- Ernst Waldner (1898-?) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine and served in East Africa. He married Julie Friederike Ebinger.
