Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer depicting the Indian rancheria of Jose Antonio Verrado at the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia, San Diego, April 1865. A thatched hut stands in the center background while two rancheros talk in the foreground. One man can be seen seated on a log, while the other is visible to the right of him on horseback. An ox stands among what appear to be unfinished wooden carts in the right background. The hill on which the hut is located descends slightly to the left. Text written-in below the image identifies the area and location, and also reads "near the Zanja, Caicha Tribe, Quechunas".
