Shown is an artistic rendering of Federal troops coming under fire from the west side of the Sacramento River in July 1894. The troops were dispatched from San Francisco's Presidio to quell any violence resulting from the general strike and boycott that originated at Chicago's Pullman Company. Caption reads "Conflict between the military and the rioters on the river from of Sacramento, California. Drawn by B. West Clinedinst from sketches and description by telegraph." Item was drawn from July 19, 1894, Leslie's Illustrated News.
