A photograph of "Japanese friends of the Hong Kong convent attending a farewell party for Sister Juliana who was leaving for Darien. This group consists of private English pupils, music pupils, mothers of Kindergarten children, etc. There were about 2,000 Japanese in Hong Kong, a few of them were Catholic but no provisions were made for their spiritual needs. Bishop Berliz tried to gather them together while he was in Hong Kong a short time before he died. Some of the children used to come to the convent for instruction. There was a flourishing Protestant church run by the Japanese themselves, but most of them were pagans."
