Description
Photograph caption date stamped July 4, 1958 reads, "Screen star Robert Ryan takes his cut at some Little League pitching in front of a critical 'coaching staff' as Parkev Sarkissian umpires behind the plate in preparation for the shish kebab party and celebration of the Sherman Oaks American Little League tomorrow from 1 to 8 o'clock at the home ball park on Magnolia just east of Van Nuys boulevard. Players observing Ryan's hitting form are catcher Salvio Pensanti and, standing, from left, Dennis Joyce, Rab [sic] Walker, Garry MacKenzie, Albert Balzer, Carroll Vaughn Jr., Robert Thirwell and Billy West. The public is invited to the shish kebab, billed to help the league, at $1.50 a throw."
