Description
Two women are depicted in a room. The woman on the left wears a riding habit. Her outfit is brown with turquoise ribbons and veil on her hat, and the her jacket is trimmed with rows of turquoise ribbon. Her jacket is long sleeved with wide turned back cuffs. The jacket and cuffs are trimmed with bands of turquoise ribbon with rosettes along the ribbons. Her blouse is white with a ruffled collar and lacy cuffs. The woman on the right sits at a piano and wears her hair in ringlets adorned with pink ribbon. Her dress is white lace with pink ribbon trimmings. The jewel neckline and the elbow length sleeves are edged with pink ribbons. Pink ribbon outlines the collar, the ends of the sleeves, and the peplum, as well as the hem of a hip length upper tier of the skirt. The hem of the dress ends with very deep pointed scallops. Her accessories are a gold bracelet on each arm. She is seated at a piano, with music on the stand, and turns back to greet the other woman. Behind them is a large window, with tied back draperies, and an opening to the outdoors at the side showing a distant row of trees. Outside of the window is a fruit tree or climbing flowering vine with red fruit or flowers.
