Description
The photo caption published in the Sacramento Bee on September 8, 1968 states: "The Highway Patrol has found a high incidence of minor accidents along the 29th-30th Streets Freeway, above. Most of them are rear-end collisions between traffic going onto the freeway and traffic slowing or halted on the off-ramp. Yet where vehicles keep moving, the on-off shuttle works without incident, as between traffic going on at N Street, center foreground, and traffic moving to the right on the freeway to turn off to San Francisco, in distance. Despite the scramble of vehicles changing lanes, CHP officers say, there have been no accidents in that recently opened section of the freeway." (Photo published in the Sacramento Bee were both instant photo and photo #7014.)
