Description
Photograph of a view of parked cars crowding Pine Street at Broadway in Long Beach, ca.1925. To the left, the corner of the Marine Bank building is visible, a van advertising a cleaning and dyeing service parked diagonally by the sidwalk in front of it. To the right, two men in suits and hats talk in front of the canopied windows of a three-story brick building. Farther in, two early-style buses make their way across the intersection, where a traffic officer can be seen standing on a pedestal. The remaining blocks of the street are lined with two- to four-story commerical buildings.
Other legible signs from left to right include: "Pershing Apartments", "Kodak", "Winstead Bros.", "Hotel", "Finney & Young Furniture", "Rooms", "Middough's Boys' Shop", "McGrew & Sons", "Lunch", "Children's [...]", "American H[otel]. Furnished Rooms", "Infants Girls and Boys Wear", "The Emporium. Dry Goods & Ladies Wear. Ed Ahlswede & Son proprietors", "The Angelus. Rooms and Apartments", "Steam Heat" and "Parking Time Limit: 2 hours, 9 am to 6 pm".
