Photograph of Sioux chief Sitting Bull addressing a council at Fort Yates, North Dakota, [s.d.]. He is standing in the middle of a semi-circle formed by the council. Most of the council is sitting and watching the Indian chief, who is wearing a long blanket around his waist. Most of the council is made up of white men, although a large percent at left is Indian. The walls of the fort are visible in the background, and a stairway leading up to a second story is visible at right.
