Description
This circa 1945 photograph shows a street car, carded number five, near the corner of Twenty-Eight and N Streets. The car is marked “Sacramento City Lines,” and shows a final destination of “Ball Park.” To the far left of the photograph is the First Christian Church at 2705 N Street. The train also passes a brick building, housing the Sacramento City Lines bus garage. On January 4, 1947, and with bus lines and freeways gaining transportation primacy, the Sacramento City Lines made its last street car run: a trip to the California State Fairgrounds, and back.
