Photograph caption dated January 14, 1963 reads, "The new section of the Golden State Freeway in Sun Valley will be opened to traffic Tuesday, but today it sits quietly between Lankershim Blvd. and Osborne St. The Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club will sponsor ceremonies at 11 a.m. tomorrow for the opening of the 2.4-mile, $4,748,700 link. The final Valley section of the Golden State Freeway is expected to be completed in September."
