Description
Photograph caption dated August 14, 1964 reads, "It's worth $22,000 - Most "woodies" are ancient station wagons, but North Hollywood car customizer George Barris isn't an old car fan. His Surf Woodie is valued at $22,000. The car has only two seats, a beer keg for a gas tank and no steering wheel - a joy stick controls acceleration, brakes and steering. The dual rear tire are for traction in the sand. Those doors are also steps. Not shown here is a detachable accessory, a surf board with its own engine. With this rig a surfer not only travels to the beach, he travels to the waves after he gets in the water."; See image #00117304 for additional photo in this series.
