Description
Profile of Russian-born Romantic composer Gretchaninoff, in suit and tie. Gelatin silver print, monochromatic. Inscribed on the paper backing and frame of the photograph: "To a great friend of music Mrs. Cecil Frankel sincerely A. Gretchaninoff 1931 Los-Angeles" . Also written on the photo is the address and name of the photographer, "E. (Emile) Marcovitch", also Russian and, by the 1920s, based in Paris.
