"No. 6 'Protected Food Float.' The way melons and water chestnuts should be treated is to screen them and to use only boiled water to keep them moist. These floats are all built to uniform size and as can be seen by the cross bars at the end of the poles, are so fitted that coolies may carry them through the streets." A platform with bars, meant to be carried in a parade, is resting on the ground. On it is a clear box holding what look to be bowls, but may be melons or water chestnuts sliced in half and hollow. The box itself is covered in white and has a Chinese sign on it. There is also another bowl or melon in front of the box, and a basket with a cover in it next to it.
