Description
Note: Laut PJ fand die Annexion von Kwahu erst 1888 statt. (PST). Note translation: According to PJ the annexation of Kwahu took place in 1888. (PST). - The reference to "officers" in the plural could indicate that this is another event, not the incorporation of Kwahu in the English Gold Coast Colony. Indeed, if we assume that the whole series from this image to QD-30.042.0094 refers to the same event (with the important exception of QD-30.042.0088) it was another occasion - a strong military party passing through Abetifi. In which case the date could be correct.(PJ 7/98). - See however the extended commentary to one of these images at QD-30.044.0138 which gives the date quite explicitly as 1894. (PJ 8/98). - Note also that we have no other firm indication that Ramseyer was taking photographs before 1888 (PJ 08.2002).
