Description
Photograph of the exterior view of the Polytechnic High School, Washington Street between Hope Street and Flower Street, Los Angeles, ca.1910. The principally three-story stone Greek-revival building has a grand portico entrance at the head of a broad set of stairs. Six ionic columns support a wide pediment. Inside the pediment are leafy ornamental moldings with a seal containing the year "1905". The façade of the adjacent building (probably adjoined) has similar features as the main building however there are no entrances or stairs leading to an entrance. Furthermore, unlike the main building, this building has a dome roof. The roof of the main building is flat. The street in front is wet and muddy. Utility poles and lines are visible overhead.
