Photograph of a large crowd of people at the construction site of the new State Building, at First Street "& Broadway, on November 12, 1930. A crowd composed of a male majority and a few women stands before a platform where a large sign reads "Site of new State Building to cost $1,250,000.00. 190,000 sq ft. floor space - 12 stories Construction to commence immediately. A state contribution towards reducing unemployment". Beyond the sign, a bulldozer can be seen by a pile of rubble, while several buildings including the Los Angeles Times structure can be seen.
