Description
View uphill toward Mount Tamalpais on West Blithdale Avenue. The white building on the hill is the Mill Valley and Mt. Tamalpais Sanitarium (not to be confused with the Blithedale Hotel/sanitarium). The Mill Valley and Mt. Tamalpais Sanitarium was built in 1907 and torn down in 1919. It was operated by a Dr. Lamb who specialized in treating patients with "nervous disorders." The foundation of the recently torn down Blithedale Hotel can be seen in the center background of the photo.
