Photograph article dated May 1, 1961 partially reads, "James Francis Cardinal McIntyre, archbishop of Los Angeles, will bless the parish school and temporary church building Sunday of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Sherman Way and Quartz avenue, Canoga Park. One of the world's first parishes named for St. Joseph the Worker, it was established May 4, 1956, three days after the new May Day feast honoring the saint was observed." Photograph caption reads, "West Valley parish prepares for dedication - Mmes. Leo Costanzo, left, and Thurman McConnaughy will assist pastor."
