Description
This is a photograph of statues in a pagan temple at Canton [now Guangzhou]. There are five statues with the center statue the largest and most threatening with armor and horns growing from his head. He has arms but only one leg which he stands with on top of a pedestal. The smaller statues, two on either side of him, are duplicates of the central statue. They all stand on a platform with two large candles in front of them.
