Description
Astronomer Harlow Shapely, director of the Harvard College Observatory, writes to EPH, regarding counts of nebulae made from the Bruce telescope plates. He encloses charts of counts of galaxies per square degree, and explains the method used for arriving at the counts. They recently finished a survey of systems of a specific brightness in a specific region, and are redoing the project to be cautious. He is hoping to soon publish findings from the southern plates.
