Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated July 8, 1950 reads "John Kasper, prospector who settled in Bouquet Canyon in 1912, with hand-forged vise given him by the billionaire. Rockefeller also gave Kasper $20 gold piece...no dime...after Kasper gave Rockefeller lift in icewagon." The article partially reads "Far up in Bouquet Canyon, above Saugus, there lives a fabulous man named John Kasper. He ran a placer mine in Texas Canyon, about three miles back of his present modest home, and took out $1000 a month in gold."; See images #00136157 through #00136158 for all photos in this series.
