Description
Photograph of the Boundary Oak with trees visible in the background, Griffith Park, May 13, 1941. The tree can be seen laying on its side at center. A hole can be seen in the bark of the tree just to the left of center. The tree appears to form an archway with foliage visible underneath the tree. Small tree branches and twigs can be seen at top and at left in the foreground, while trees and what appears to be a fence can be seen in the background. A drawn border is visible around the image. Buildings are depicted at left and at right with archways in front and flags flying from the top of the building. At top and bottom, the outline of a bear with "LA" written at its center can be seen amongst flowers. The oak served to delineate the boundaries of three of the original ranchos.
