Description
Note translation: "The temple in Triprangode is only about 5 minutes from the mission house." - "On No. 19 you can see a procession which happens every year at the end of February at the time of the Shivaratri Festival (the festival of Shiva's night). It happens every evening for a week. It has become a big popular festival. The event takes place inside the temple courtyard. The people go round and round the temple, just as hindus go round and round anyway, and never 'break out' of the circle." (Accompanying letter from Dengler with the caption, in box C-30.88).
Stamped: "Museum der Basler Mission, Basel, Missionsstrasse 21."
