Description
Annotation translation: "Looking north. You can see the little houses for bathing for the upper village of Mengkatip on the mooring places along the bank of the river. There is marshy land on both sides of the river. In the rainy season everything is under water for weeks at a time. Even the village street is knee-deep in the flood. You see the first hills three days' journey further on by motor boat. There is plenty of fish and there are many crocodiles here. There are also many mosquitos - it is impossible to be outside after sunset. In front of the bath houses you can see the missionaries' rowing boat. Young men who work in the missionaries' household are in the boat."
