Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated June 24, 1960 reads "Engine Company 39's veteran hose wagon at Van Nuys, once burned badly when enveloped by flames in the huge La Tuna Canyon brush blaze, is in top condition for another busy season of fire fighting. Department shop workers made more than $5,000 in repairs to truck, abandoned in flames that overran it and eight firemen. Now 'operating like new,' the 1949-built truck worth $25,000 is rolled almost daily to new fires by, from left, Capt. Terry J. Phillips, driver Donald Lavelle and fireman Joseph E. Hauck."
