Photograph of a lithograph from Norton's "Story of California" showing a view of San Francisco from the bay, 1847. The bay is in the foreground, and there are several boats on it, including a row boat at center occupied by a single person. San Francisco is visible in the background on the hills surrounding the bay it is composed of small white buildings in a group. More mountains rise in the distance. Norton's book was published in 1913 by A.C. McClury & Co., Chicago.
