Photograph of General John C. Fremont residence, 1119 West 29th Street, on the northwest corner of 28th Street and Hoover Street, Los Angeles, ca.1896. Behind a wire fence, the yard is dotted with trees and other plants in bloom. Roses are present. The dwelling is two stories high, principally made of wood, and has two chimneys. "The many friends of Mrs. Jessie Benton Fremont will be glad to learn that the women of California have raised funds for purchase of a lot and the erection of a home to be presented as a testimonial of love and esteem to the worthy wife of the illustrious Pathfinder. The lot on the corner of Twenty-eighth and Hoover streets has been purchased and plans for the residence are completed." -- (Express 2/28 1891)
