Description
Photograph caption dated May 9, 1957 reads, "There will be big doings in the Valley League tomorrow when the annual all-league track and field meet is held at Van Nuys High where these athletes will be among those seeking individual titles. At the left is Gary Smith of Van Nuys, who figures to score points in the 100-yard dash and 440, while the vaulter is Mike Chandler, North Hollywood, who heads one of the finest arrays of pole climbers ever assembled in the league. Other 13-foot leapers are Mike McNatt of Reseda and Larry Barnett of Canoga Park." Pictured is Gary Smith. See image 00160526 for additional photo in this series.
