Description
Republican mural, Islandbawn Street/Falls Road, West Belfast, 1989 (originally painted 1982). Mural depicts: left and right, IRA Volunteers past and present (1916-1982); above mural: 'Oglaigh na hEireann' (IRA); centre: lark of freedom on Irish Tricolour; bottom - 'Saoirse' (Freedom). Slogan beneath mural, no destroyed, read: 'We are here to stay'. Bottom right of mural: 'Restored by Sinn Féin National Youth'. Above mural: posters against censorship, extradition, advertisemnt for anniversary of internment march, August 1989.
