View of the massive stupa and pilgrims, with broad flights of stairs leading to its high platform. It is 180 feet high -- the tallest stupa after Jetavana Stupa (4th century CE) of Anuradhapura. It also is the largest stupa in Polonnaruva. Its diameter at the base is 186 feet. View includes one of the four vahalkadas (approximately 20 feet in height) flanked by image houses, all located at its base It is built on a rectangular platform (1.82 meters high from ground level) and with three basal terraces.
