Description
Mallory Tarcher discusses her book, Starring Mom, which is about a teenage girl, Dena, spending a summer with her real mother, Shena, in Las Vegas. Among the many themes discussed are loss of innocence, the transformation of familial relationships, love, and acceptance. As Mallory describes Dena's experiences, it will take tears, laughter, and love for Shena to show that she cares about Dena and for Dena to accept her mother for who she is and enjoy the relationship they have. Mallory reveals that she wanted to write something that expressed understanding about the trials and tribulations of being a teenage girl and their relationship with their mother. Connie and Mallory also discuss Mallory's experience growing up the child of a television star, and her current work on her mother's television show. They also discuss Mallory's experience with the publishing world.
