Description
To follow up Executive Order 9066, the forced relocation of all people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast, Executive Order 9102 laid out the formation of the War Relocation Authority and its responsibilities. Describes authority of the Director of the WRA and other high-ranking individuals and agencies working with the WRA Director, hiring WRA employees to carry out functions of the organization, and "dispose of property belonging to foreign nationals removed under this order."
The War Relocation Authority (WRA), together with the Wartime Civil Control Administration (WCCA), the Civil Affairs Division (CAD) and the Office of the Commanding General (OFG) of the Western Defense Command (WDC) operated together to segregate and house some 110,000 men women and children from 1942 to 1945. The collection contains documents and photographs relating to the establishment and administrative workings of the (WDC), the (WRA) and the (WCCA) for the year 1942.
