Description
People line Hollywood Boulevard to watch the Lunar New Year parade. Numerous floats and marching bands participated on this date, among them, the band pictured here. It is unclear if this is a school marching band, or possibly a club. Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, starts at the beginning of spring. It occurs somewhere between January 30 and February 20, and it is China's biggest holiday. It is celebrated with firecrackers, dragon dances and lion dances. 2002 was the Year of the Horse. Photo dated: February 17, 2002.
