Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Ergun Kirlikovali was born in Turkey in 1952. His wife, Juliana Marian Kirlikovali, was born in Ireland in 1954. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1978 for “economical welfare” (better lives). A job offer brought them to Orange County in 1981. Ergun founded Integrated Polymer Industries, Inc., in Irvine, CA, in 1985. He served as president and Juliana as vice president. Ergun was also active in Turkish-American affairs. Turkish folk dancers perform at the 100th anniversary of the founding of Orange County.
