Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Margaret Mason's father immigrated to Los Angeles in 1896 and her mother in 1923, both from Van, Turkey. Her father's family was one of the first Armenian families to come to L.A. Margaret was born in 1925 and was affiliated with St. James Fellowship Club.
