Description
Image of people riding the electric tram on the Ocean Front Walk Promenade in Venice, California. Signs for businesses read "Neptune Theatre," "Hotel Oceanic," and "Cafe Pelican." The Venice Plunge bath house is at right, with a sign that reads "plunge and surf bath house."
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title based on note from Ernest Marquez. "Electric tram on Promenade, Venice" is a note from Ernest Marquez written on envelope as it was received; Date devised by cataloger based on style of clothing in image and history of tram. This is a copy of a photograph by Keystone - "Keystone, L.A." is written in lower left corner. The Venice Electric Tram operated approximately 1910-1929, along the concrete walkway between Venice and Santa Monica. (erha.org)
