Guardstone at right side of the lower flights of steps. It is adorned by a nāgarāja (snake-king) with a protective nine-hooded cobra head a behind his human head and holds in his right hand a long stem with a sprig of flowers and in his left hand a 'pot of plenty' (pūrnaghata), one of the eight auspicious symbols of Sinhalese Theravāda Buddhism. The two nidhis associated with Kuvera (Kubera), God of Wealth, Padma and Sankha, are at his feet. Two other guardstones are found at the base of the second flight of stairs.
