Photograph was edited for publication. Eighteen years ago, this group of people met in Griffith Park and dreamed of a great outdoor theater for that very spot. Arrow shows Col. Griffith Jenkins Griffith, who announced at that meeting his plans to provide a theater for the park which he had given to Los Angeles as a Christmas present in 1896. The theater, shown at top, has been erected with funds he left for that purpose. Photograph montage used for publication on September 24, 1930.
