Description
Photograph of a model. "Artist's drawing [sic] of skyscraper -- Downtown Los Angeles' first skyscraper -- a 35-story aluminum, glass and marble office building -- will be built on the corner of Sixth and Hill Streets, according to plans revealed Monday by David Shusett, real estate developer. -- Rising 485 feet above ground level, the structure will cost more than $20,000,000 and will have an office area of 615,000 square feet. -- Included will be a 14-level electronic parking structure for 525 cars. It will be the tallest building west of Chicago, according to Charles Luckman, architect. -- To be known as the 333 West Sixth Street Building, it will stand on the site of the Downtown Paramount Theater Building which was built 40 years ago by the late showman Sid Grauman. Demolition of the theater will begin next month and will take six months to complete. -- The skyscraper, to be constructed by the Guy F. Atkinson Co., will be completed in the fall of 1962." -- Examiner clipping attached to verso, dated 9 August 1960.
