Photograph of an open channel fro the La Brea bridge at Venice Boulevard, Jan 26, 1931. An open channel full of still water extends trough the picture from the left foreground to the right background. The ditch has vertical walls of dirt on both sides with wooden poles and planks on the side in the left foreground. To the right, a cement drain in the shape of a semi-circle sits at the side of the channel. Telephone poles are visible in the right background while houses can be seen to the left. Photoprint reads: "View of the open channel from the La Brea bridge at Venice Boulevard before construction of the Sacatela Storm Drain Extension, Jan. 26,, 1931. View of the open channel from the La Brea bridge at Venice Boulevard. This residential area will be greatly benefited by the construction of the Sacatela storm drain extension, which will eliminate this dangerous and unsightly open channel".
