Photograph caption dated July 11, 1950 reads "Ground breaking ceremonies at start of new $437,000 Southern California Gas Co., 6640 Van Nuys Blvd., Van Nuys, are attended by officials, Valley civic and service leaders, J. H. Ragsdale, F. A. McCanlies, John Wright, O. E. Peterson, H. H. Jackson, Lee Degnan, W. P. Whitsett, Roger Jessup, James Moran, Ferd Mendenhall and S. C. Singer. New structure is to serve as headquarters for firm's proposed San Fernando Valley division, to replace present offices on Sylvan St., east of Van Nuys Blvd."
