Title supplied by cataloger. South of the Santa Monica Pier at Hollister Street, the Crystal Pier existed from 1905 to 1949. Originally, the Crystal Pier was named the White Star Pier; it was completed in 1905 and sold in 1906. It was renamed the Bristol Pier in 1908 after the Bristol Cafe located there. When Nat Goodwin took over the Bristol Cafe and renamed it the Cafe Nat Goodwin, the pier was known as the Nat Goodwin Pier, from 1913 to approximately 1916. Later, from 1919 to 1949 it was the known as the Crystal Pier. Eventually, the city condemned the rickety structure as a health and safety hazard, and it was demolished in 1949. View of Venice Beach looking west towards Bristol Pier and Ocean Park, while beachgoers frolic on the beach and in the waves. The Santa Monica Mountains can be seen in the distance.
