Description
Photograph of crowds gathering around group of small children bearing decorative flags during the Chinese New Year celebrations, Chinatown, 1920-1929. In the background at center, a large group of young children are visible. The children stand around a man at center supporting a very large, decorative emblem or tapestry hanging from a pole. Flowers appear to adorn the top of the pole. To the left and right of the tapestry, large flags can be seen. Also to the left, a younger girl holds a smaller flag in her hands. A large crowd is gathered around the group, but everyone appears to be staring off to the right. In the extreme background at left, an elevated wooden structure supporting large crowds of people can be seen.
