At the time this photograph was taken in May 1969, Lancaster was an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, but later became its own city in 1977. Various automobiles are parked outside of a shopping center, anchored by an Alpha Beta supermarket (from center to right). Other businesses in the center include: Bourbon Street Liquor, The Chocolate Tree candy store, a pharmacy, and a Sprouse-Reitz discount store (background, right).
