Photograph caption dated February 6, 1958 reads, "Makeup is for boys, too - Little Karen Otto, 3, watches while Tommy applies makeup for television appearance. Besides learning theatrical makeup technique, Tommy has learned to dance under Mouseketeer tutelage. Youth auditioned for Disney show at suggestion of his accordion teacher who took entire class to auditions 'to find out what they were like.' Joining troupe has affected entire family, boy's mother said, bringing them closer together. Tommy has older brother who is married. Time-consuming chores at Disney forced Tommy to leave regular high school, attend classes at Disney lot in Burbank."
